Churston is a new breed of farm shop with traditional values and a wide range of produce. Products range from high quality beef reared on the farm and butchered on site, free range chicken, cooked crab and crabmeat, local vegetables, on-site baked pasties and cakes, a wide range of chutneys, cheeses, wines and staples such as freshly baked bread, milk, butter and eggs.
Richard and Caroline are committed to working with local farmers who supply the finest produce bursting with flavour produced by traditional farming methods. They know the history and welfare of all the meat and animal produce in their store, and use their own more than 20 years’ experience of farming in the area to work with local growers and suppliers, to produce great tasting food whilst ensuring that the animals have had as full and natural a life as possible. All their fresh products are local British produce of the highest quality.
Local fish and crab can be ordered in store. The crab is prepared and cooked on-site and is available either as a whole crab or as crab meat. They make fantastic fish cakes while for the real wow factor order a superb dressed salmon, a stunning centre piece for any buffet table.
All their fruit and vegetables come directly from local growers, cutting down on food miles and supporting the local economy.
A visit to Caroline’s Kitchen, maybe for a tasty breakfast, home-made cake or their award winning Sunday Roast, after a visit to the well-stocked garden centre, may inspire you to try one of the recipes served in the café and featured on their web site. Or perhaps you might choose something from their extensive range of ready prepared meals from their own kitchens.
Why not pop into the shop sometime, or visit their web site, www.churstontraditionalfarmshop.org.uk , to see what is in season, you will be amazed at the choice. Give them a ring to see what’s available as most things can be sent by the next day, even a box of their lovely golden local butter.
