Although Keypitts farm is set deep in the of the Devon countryside, abandon any thoughts of rural tranquility and think instead of an action packed day out for all the family.
Keypitts Farm has been in the Chugg family since the 15th century and over the centuries has seen many changes. Given the many pressures on today’s farmers Fred and Wendy Chugg followed the family tradition of improving on circumstances and decided to diversify.
The first quad bikes were brought in1998 and within a week, both the riding stables and quads were open to the public. Off road driving was soon added to the popular mix. Then in 2009 Fred Chugg and Graham Jackson decided to develop an electric quad bike which would out perform any others on the market. They wanted to produce a vehicle of outstanding build quality and performance that used renewable energy and Eco charger was the result.
They obviously got it right. Their electric quadbikes are proving very successful, and are marketed under the Eco charger brand. The range currently consists of three exciting models, Eliminator 4X4, the flagship of the range with selectable 4 wheel drive. The Dominator, which is a chain driven two wheel drive, and for those looking for even more excitement, the Sports Quad. For more information about their electric quad bikes please visit the web site www.electric-quad-bikes.co.uk.
Taking the renewable concept even further, the bikes are produced in a factory that runs on 100% renewable energy.
Quad bikes, off road driving, and horse riding through the beautiful woods, hills and fields of Devon are not all that Keypitts has to offer, they have also developed their own special trail centre. Special in that the trail is being built by the mountain biker community. Mountain bikers from the area are heading up there to take part in the build, taking advantage of the perfect opportunity to have hands on experience and input on a large scale trail build.
Keypitts Farm is developing Green, Blue, Red and Black graded trails. The blue descent has flow in abundance and red and black options to take you to the valley floor via a slate quarry, making maximum use of the land on offer.
It will be interesting to see what next for Keypitts, more Eco charger electric bike models, further developments to the trail? Whatever Fred and Wendy’s next move, it’s sure to be exciting!
