Overview

The BIMM institute is the UK and Europe’s most connected music college, with 6 independent schools based in Brighton, Bristol, Dublin, Manchester, Berlin and London.

BIMM boasts an impressive list of graduates. BIMM Bristol’s own notable ex-students include: singer-songwriter George Ezra and Telegram drummer Jordan Cook.

Covering six colleges in London, Berlin, Dublin, Manchester, Bristol and Brighton, the BIMM Group is responsible for teaching 4,500 students and has nurtured the talents of Tom Odell, James Bay, Philip Selway and Ed O’Brien (Radiohead), Marina Diamandis (Marina and the Diamonds), songwriter Ed Drewett and members of The Kooks – to name but a few.

Established in 2008, BIMM Bristol, in King Square, was the second college to be opened by the BIMM Group – then known as the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, but recently renamed as the British & Irish Modern Music Institute.

Their music-based degree courses feature some of the best tutors in the business too, having all had busy careers of their own and still active in the industry, with Masterclasses have been led by the likes of The Smiths’ Mike Joyce, journalist Vivien Goldman and, most recently, Ian Matthews, Kasabian’s drummer.

Young musicians can take their pick from a range of music-based degree courses, specifically BA (Hons) Professional Musicianship in Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums and Songwriting. Also available are music industry based degrees in Music Production, Music Business and Event Management. All BIMM Bristol courses are validated by Bath Spa University.

As 2015 gets into its stride, the tempo is picking up at BIMM Bristol. They’ve just launched their Event Management course and are about to start recording their annual album. This always eagerly anticipated recording features original music from students who have been chosen by a panel made up of industry professionals and college tutors.

With the Group having recently just launched its first college in Continental Europe –Berlin – demand for BIMM courses remains high.
