Venton Goes Green

Venton Ltd based in Summercourt, near Newquay, has seen their sustainability project come to life, with the support and funding from Cornwall Council’s Growth Hub Net Zero Grants Programme, and has recently installed its first one hundred solar panels to the centre.

The innovative, state of the art conference centre and accountancy practice, has developed its facilities over the years with the ambition to reduce its carbon footprint, reduce costs and generate it’s own green energy. This grant will now help support Venton with it’s environmental promise and allow the business to reach it’s net zero goals.

With the demand on business ever growing, coupled with the recent increases in energy costs to commercial and residential properties alike, an opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint was not to be missed. With the support of the Growth Hub, Simon Annear Heating, Electrical Ltd and Exeter University, this has now become a reality and we are delighted to be able to power our conference spaces from energy generated and gathered on site.

Georgina May, Managing Director of Venton says

"This was a great breakthrough for us as a company to reduce our carbon footprint and something we have been wanting to complete for a while. We then came across the grant available to us through the Growth Hub’s Net Zero Grants Programme and we just couldn’t turn down the opportunity. With the help and guidance from the Growth Hub as well as Exeter University, we secured 50% of the installation costs, enabling us to install more panels than anticipated as well as mapping out a full decarbonisation plan. The install has been seamless all thanks to a local company, Simon Annear Heating and Electrical Ltd. This is the first step for Venton in working towards our net zero goals and we are very excited to continue on this journey!”

Venton will be continuing to move forward with their environmental and decarbonisation plan and is always looking at ways to reduce carbon emissions and reliance on the National Grid.  The business is extremely proud to have worked with the Cornwall Council and local businesses to support the project, and as a result take important steps to tackle climate change.

The Growth Hub grant funding is part of the Good Growth Programme, which is delivering the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
