Bellway South West is supporting a project which helps struggling families in Bristol.

The housebuilder – which has its regional head office in the city and is building new homes in Cribbs Causeway and Yate – has donated £500 to the charity Housing Matters.

The money will go towards the charity's Homefull project, run with local debt advice agency Talking Money, which aims to prevent parental homelessness.

The project is focused on outreach at children's centres in deprived areas of Bristol and supports people with debt management strategies, rent negotiations, and access to benefits and school uniforms. It also helps parents secure safe and affordable housing by helping them apply for deposit grants or negotiate with housing officers.

Harriet Goodland, Advice Service Lead from Housing Matters, said:

"We are a small charity, and we rely heavily on one-off donations to support our work. We work tirelessly to fundraise so we can keep supporting vulnerable people in Bristol and keep growing and developing as an organisation.

"It means so much to receive this donation from Bellway as a new contributor to our cause. It means that we are successfully spreading the word about how important our work is for the people of Bristol and it motivates us to keep doing everything we can for them.

"The people we work with are often in very poor housing conditions, overcrowded, in debt and struggling to cope. Our work under the Homefull project helps people to get on top of their finances, improve their housing conditions and look forward to a more comfortable and happy future with fewer worries."

Bellway South West is committed to delivering much-needed new housing across the region, including affordable homes available for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership. It is currently building new homes at Berwick Green in Cribbs Causeway and Ladden Garden Village in Yate, while new homes are also planned at Flowers Hill Grange in Brislington.

Christel Hawkins, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said:

"With our donation, we aim to support Housing Matters in helping struggling families access the help they need.

"Ensuring that we help the wider communities close to where we build is one of our company's key goals. One of the best ways we can to this is by providing financial support to charitable organisations which work in these communities.

"We hope our donation will help play a role in preventing homelessness and facilitating stable housing for families in need."
