A team of experts from BusinessComparison has raised thousands of pounds for one of the UK’s largest children’s hospitals – smashing their initial target.

The Chester-based business has announced that it has raised £2,500 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, surpassing an initial target of £2,000.

The funds were donated by 70 supporters on JustGiving, with a team of six from the company taking on the gruelling Coniston Challenge.

The leading online comparison site for UK business services has a long-standing tradition of helping local charities. This is the first year they’ve joined the event, which Merseyside-based Alder Hey Charity organised.

“We’ve been long supporters of Hope House and Ty Gobaith and sponsors of a local grassroots football team, so we were all up for a new challenge to raise funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity – an incredible organisation and a very worthy cause,”

said Philip Brennan, Founder and MD at BusinessComparison.

"We’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and all of the support we received. Taking part in the Coniston Challenge was a true testament to our commitment to giving back to the community, and I know Nathan, Max, Ethan, Brad, Paul and Liam had a brilliant (but painful) time doing it!”

The ‘triathlon with a twist’ included an 11.8km hike to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston, one of the region’s most popular destinations for outdoor enthusiasts, a 15km cycle through Grizedale Forest and a 3km canoe on one of the largest lakes, Coniston Water in Cumbria.

The six-man crew pushed their physical capabilities to the limit by walking, riding and paddling in support of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity fundraiser, which has been running since 2013 and raises vital funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The charity supports innovative medical equipment, facilities and research to ensure the highest standard of care for young patients and their families.

Philip Brennan added:

“We believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. Participating in the Coniston Challenge for Alder Hey Children’s Charity perfectly aligns with our core values and our passion for making a difference."
