Barratt Homes West Midlands has donated £1,500 to the Little Bird Baby Bank, supporting the charity in its mission to help families with young children struggling with increasing costs.
The Stratford-upon-Avon based charity was set up in 2019 by Julie Jones in memory of her friend Rachel Bird who passed away in 2017.
Its goal is to support families with babies and young children who, because of financial constraints, are not able to provide basic equipment for their children.
The baby bank, based close to Barratt Homes’ Aston Grange development, supplies nappies, baby formula, clothes and any other kind of equipment necessary for families to live comfortably.
Julie Jones said:
“Over the last year we have helped more than 500 families in this way. We work not only in Stratford-upon-Avon but also in the wider district as well.
“Some of the pre-loved items have been donated by members of the public to give to families in need.”
The Little Bird Baby Bank has donation baskets in both Tesco and Morrisons in Stratford-upon-Avon, allowing the community to make contributions as part of their weekly shop.
Julie continued:
“We also run a van which is used to deliver supplies to our service users and for us to attend pop up events that are held in collaboration with local playgroups.
“The donation from Barratt Homes will contribute towards our running costs and allow us to continue our valuable work in the community.”
Barratt Homes’ donation came from its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
Adrian Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said:
“We are proud to support the Little Bird Baby Bank which carries out vital work to support struggling families in Warwickshire.
“We’re pleased to support these services through our Community Fund scheme and hope the charity can continue its support for those in need for many years to come.”
