A mum-of-two fighting cancer was joined by her son and his boss in getting their heads shaved to raise money for a cancer charity.

Dawn West, aged 51, lives in Hinckley, Leicestershire, with Leo’s 15-year-old brother.

When Leo West, Invoicing Team Leader at Pertemps Network Group, told Tim Watts, Lifetime President at Pertemps, that he and his mum were getting their heads shaved to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research, Tim not only donated, but also said he would join them.

The event, which took place in front of colleagues at the Meriden-based recruiter's HQ, has, so far, raised more than £3,000.

Dawn said:

“I would like to thank Tim and everyone at Pertemps for how welcoming they all were. It was overwhelming how loved everyone made me feel. I cannot thank everyone enough for all the kind words, the support and the donations made.

“My journey has been a longish one so far. Shaving my head just over 10 years ago and then again now. Thankfully, this is just another step along that journey.

“There have been tough times and laughs, and the event just reenforced how generous people are and how much support people are willing to give, and the feeling of love shown to a stranger was amazing. I can see why Leo loves Pertemps so much. His work family are amazing.”
