Lookers Vauxhall in Selly Oak, Birmingham, is supporting Police Officer Liz Jones as she embarks on a 1,000 mile charity cycle ride that will take her from John O’Groat’s to Land’s End.

Liz, who is an officer with West Midlands Police based in Stechford, is aiming to raise as much as she can for two causes that her very close to her heart.

The first is charity Just Caring Midlands, where she worked before joining the police and which supports vulnerable young people in the Birmingham area, and the other is her two severely autistic brothers whom she hopes to provide respite care for in the form of their first holiday in a decade.

To help her on her way, Lookers Vauxhall has provided her support vehicle, a Vauxhall Zafira 1.8, with a full service free of charge. The vehicle will provide a vital back up along the route, carrying the food and water Liz will need, as well as emergency first aid and medical supplies.

Liz approached the dealership after hearing about the help Lookers has given to other charities and causes as part of its social responsibility commitments.

Liz said:

“This cycle ride is something that I have wanted to do for a long time and I am excited to now be able to push myself to the limit in order to raise funds for these two special causes, both of which are very close to my heart. I would like to thank Lookers for their fantastic support as it’s so important that that I can rely on this support vehicle. I just can’t wait to get going now.”

Mike Fleetwood, General Sales Manager at Vauxhall Selly Oak, sad:
