A Birmingham school has added strength to its senior management team with the appointment of a Director of Finance and Operations.

Sue Bowron joins Hallfield School from Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy where she was Finance Director for seven years.

Sue, a highly qualified Chartered Accountant, will have oversight of financial and operational management across the school, including all aspects of financial operations, human resources, strategic planning and risk and compliance at Hallfield.

She brings with her a wealth of experience. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1998, Sue has worked with a number of Midlands’ organisations including Cadburys Schweppes, Titan Europe and Kaplan Financial before entering the education sector.

“I joined Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy in January 2011 and prior to that I was a governor at my daughter’s school for four years.

“I’ve always been interested in being part of an institution which helps people. It sits with me morally. The idea of enabling children to develop and achieve their full potential is one of the reasons I moved towards education.

“Hallfield School is an established brand with a great reputation and lots of history. I’m looking forward to being part of its future.”

Mr Richard Batchelor, Headmaster at Hallfield School, said:

“We’re delighted to have Sue on board. She brings with her not only a deep understanding of financial systems and processes but also wide-ranging experience in a number of different settings which will be hugely beneficial to Hallfield.

“It is an extremely exciting time for Hallfield School - with a new Headmaster joining us in September and our impending 140th birthday celebrations – I cannot think of a better time to join us.”
