Barwood Capital, the Northampton-based real estate investment and development business, has appointed Susan Clayton as chair of its new Barwood Property Fund 2017 (“the Fund”).
This key appointment is part of Barwood Capital’s strategy to deliver exceptional returns to its investors by taking underperforming sites and adding value through planning, development and intensive asset management in order to create prime properties with strong income streams. Barwood Capital has an outstanding track record and manages funds that have invested in more than £175m of regional property assets, delivering returns to investors between 12%-20% per annum.
Sue Clayton is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has more than 30 years’ experience in the UK property investment markets. She is an executive director of CBRE,the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm, and a former managing director of its Capital Markets’ division. She has advised a wide range of institutional investors and property companies on the purchase, sale or development of properties across the UK. At CBRE she has been on both the UK Executive and Management boards and also on the CBRE Group Inc Board.
Sue is also a non-executive director of Helical Plc,a UK focused property investment and development company anda member of the Committee of Management of the Hermes Property Unit Trust.Sue is chair of CBRE' s Women's Network and a trustee of the Reading Real Estate Foundation.
Barwood Property Fund 2017 will be a closed ended, five year fund which will create prime income producing investments in the UK regional markets outside central London from under managed land or buildings.The Fund will have a potential size of £150 million with leverage and target property assets, particularly in the industrial and logistics sector, with the potential for significant value to be added through planning and development expertise and active asset management. The fund was launched in October 2016 and commitments for over a third of the target equity raise have already been received.
