BHSF, Birmingham-based healthcare insurer and employee benefits provider, has helped kick-start the festive season for Acorns Children’s Hospice with an early gift of £3,486 to fund the production of the charity’s Christmas cards.
This year, the Acorns Christmas cards will feature three fun, festive designs from children who have been supported by the charity. The cards will be available to purchase from hospices and Acorns shops across the Midlands.
Children from Acorns also took part in a competition to design this year’s BHSF corporate Christmas card, with Laura Postlethwaite, aged 15, taking first place, and sisters Gabriella and Andrea Constantinou, aged nine and seven, being chosen as runners up.
Peter Maskell, BHSF Group Chief Executive, said: “We are very proud of our long-standing relationship with Acorns. It is great to be able to continue our support by sponsoring the Christmas cards, which are an important source of funding for the charity and also a vital way to raise awareness of the brilliant work they do in the region.”
Charlotte Anson, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Acorns, said: “We were delighted to receive the donation for this year’s Christmas cards. Acorns relies on the generosity of the local community to help fund its care services, and continued support from BHSF makes a massive difference every year. We can’t thank BHSF enough, and we look forward to working together on future projects.”
BHSF has been supporting the children’s hospice for over seven years. Earlier this year, BHSF were the main sponsor for Acorns’ inaugural Keep Dancing event, held at Birmingham University’s Great Hall, where nine acts competed to become the king or queens of the ballroom. Additionally, two BHSF employees cycled with a group from London to Paris, raising a total of £10,000 for the charity, and volunteers from the Company often visit their local Acorns hospice to help with gardening, painting, and other projects.
