Bury & Bolton based law Clough & Willis firm has retained its membership to the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) - the mark of excellence for the home buying process – for the twelfth year running.

CQS is a recognised quality standard for SRA-regulated firms working in the residential conveyancing sector. It sets out the expected standards of competence and risk management. It also demonstrates that firms can provide residential conveyancing advice of the level expected by clients, lenders and the wider residential conveyancing community.

The accreditation gives firms greater access to lender panels, with accreditation a prerequisite for lenders panels including Nationwide, HSBC UK, Metro Bank, Santander, Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale Bank.

The scheme requires law firms to name a senior responsible officer who must undertake an exam before submitting their application for accreditation or reaccreditation every year. Companies then undergo an initial strict assessment, compulsory training and random audits.

Other obligations include having a register of plans and policies in place, and having a documented fraud risk assessment on every file along with enhanced requirements where there is a high risk of fraud.

Lorraine Stratton-Webb – head of residential property at Clough & Willis - said:

"Excellence is at the very heart of Clough & Willis so it is fantastic to once again retain our CQS status. It marks us out as meeting the very highest of standards and we could not be prouder. I would also like to thank the whole team for their hard work as they are the ones who deliver for our clients every single day.”
