Leading outsourced HR and employment law consultancy, The HR Dept Ltd, has strengthened its position in the city with the announcement that industry stalwart Ryan Gay will take ownership of its Exeter franchise.

The HR Dept Ltd is the largest of its kind with a network of franchises across 120 locations in the UK, Ireland and Australia and Exeter has long been a focus for the company as Ryan explains:

“The Exeter franchise has been well-established for more than a decade, but the demand among the city’s business community for sound HR advice and consultancy is higher than at any point in the last 10 years.

“Businesses are facing unprecedented challenges right now ranging from changes in employment legislation and an unpredictable economy, to how the recent Budget will impact their workforces.

“Accessing the support from someone with an intimate understanding of the local market at an affordable rate is critical, and that’s where I feel we that we can provide a level of comprehensive support that others cannot.”

Despite challenging economic conditions, Ryan recognises that Exeter continues to be a driving force in the regional economy. Indeed, according to the Office for National Statistics, Exeter’s economy is expected to grow to £5.5 billion and become positioned as one of the 10 fastest growing cities in the UK.

This, according to Ryan, is seeing a significant rise in demand among the city’s burgeoning business community that currently stands at around 4,900 businesses.

Ryan started his HR career in 2013 and has worked for some of the region’s largest employers, including Rolls-Royce, and The Mission Group.

He added:

“I have experienced both in-house and consultancy roles. But the opportunity to take on the Exeter operation for The HR Dept Ltd played to both my love for the variety of working with a wide spectrum of clients and the desire to genuinely make a big difference to small businesses.”

Felicity Kenny, Managing Director of The HR Dept Ltd commented:

“It’s great to see someone of Ryan's experience offering HR services in his region. We wish him all the best operating the licence and are sure he will make it a great success.”
