Executive Director James Rodgers has been appointed as head of the expanding Bristol office of investment management firm Quilter Cheviot

James will be taking up the reins from former Bristol office head, Pamela Reid who is stepping down to embark upon a new role as Director of Services Development at Quilter Cheviot.

James has over 28 years’ experience in the wealth management industry, 15 of which have been spent at Quilter Cheviot’s Bristol office.

As head of the Bristol office he will oversee a team of 15 investment managers and support staff. Under his direction, the team will pursue further growth in the regional marketplace, building on the strong reputation and relationships Quilter Cheviot has developed across the South West and Wales.

Alongside the team’s highly-experienced investment managers, Quilter Cheviot Bristol will continue to recruit and nurture younger talent, which James sees as an important focus for the future. He said, “Our team recognises the importance of attracting and developing young talent. We are recruiting junior investment professionals to build the next generation of investment managers. They benefit not only from our strong research focus, which continues to make us stand out from our competitors, but also from the experience, entrepreneurial spirit and long-standing adviser relationships established by the existing members of the team.

“Knowledge is passed on to new team members by our experienced investment managers, which ensures we have a succession plan and a smooth transition process. At the same time, junior team members can be active networkers for us, connecting with their peers in the professional marketplace and helping us continue to build the firm’s reputation across the South West”.

Former Bristol office head, Pamela Reid takes up the Director of Services Development position after 17 years heading up Quilter Cheviot’s Bristol office. She will turn her 30 years of discretionary investment management experience to optimising Quilter Cheviot services internally and across Old Mutual Wealth.

Commenting on her appointment, Pamela said, “It has been an honour to establish and head-up the Bristol office for the past 17 years and to see the team flourish and grow. I am confident further success will be achieved under James’ direction and that, with new people in place, we will carve out an even greater presence in the regional marketplace”.
