A leading South West law firm has been included in the prestigious Sunday Times 100 Best Companies list for the sixth consecutive year.
At a glittering awards ceremony in London on 20 February 2020, Stephens Scown LLP was ranked at number 74 in the list of 100 best medium sized companies to work for in the UK.
Twenty people from a range of roles across the firm went to the awards ceremony at Battersea Evolution in London to celebrate the result with some of Stephens Scown’s Board members.
“To be ranked among the best employers in the UK for six years in a row is a great achievement,”
says Richard Baker, Stephens Scown’s managing partner.
“We have worked hard to make Stephens Scown a great place to work; from becoming employee owned, to our Giving Back initiative that allows colleagues to take three days off a year for volunteering. We focus on offering our people a great career where the work is exciting and challenging. “We also do all we can to listen to our people – and act on their suggestions. The rankings are based entirely on feedback from our employees and we will look at the results closely to see how we can continue to improve.”
The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For ranking is an annual survey and 2020 marks its 20th year. Designed to recognise the well-being and motivation of employees, the survey is widely acknowledged as the most searching and comprehensive research into employee engagement in the UK, and the results depend entirely on the opinion of employees.
For every survey its staff completed, Stephens Scown made a donation to the firm’s charity of the year, Surfers Against Sewage, with the charity receiving £1,160.
Stephens Scown has over 320 staff, including more than 50 partners, across its offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell. It was the first large law firm in the UK to become employee owned. For more information visit www.stephens-scown.co.uk
