If you love cycling don't miss your chance to ride the fantastic Hello Velo Street Velodrome when it returns to Lichfield District next month.

Hello Velo, which enables cyclists aged 4 and upwards to enjoy track cycling for free, was such a success last year that it is back on Saturday 29 June, when it will be situated in Lichfield's Beacon Park and Sunday 30 June, when it will be in the grounds of Burntwood Leisure Centre.

Running from 11am to 4pm on both days, with all bikes and safety equipment provided, the event sees participants complete two laps of the track, which features two angled berms connected by two flat straights, followed by a two-lap race.

Under the supervision of experienced Street Velodrome coaches the event is open to everyone with specially-adapted bikes available to people with physical disabilities.

Along with the velodrome and the excitement of races for all ages, there will be a variety of community groups, organisations, refreshments and demonstrations, something for everyone to enjoy.

Lichfield District Council's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Leisure and Major Projects, Councillor Andy Smith, said:

"The Street Velodrome proved to be very popular on its first visit to the district last year so I am delighted that it is returning in June.

"As well as being really fun, this event encourages more people to be more active, more often.

"It is free to participate in and there is no need to book. Just save the dates and come along on the day. It will be a great event for everyone whether they are participating or spectating."

More information will be shared on the Lichfield District Council website as it becomes available.
