An Award-Winning Somerset farm shop is hosting the first of its new Supper Club’s this month in the guise of a Pie Night featuring items from Somerset and Westcountry producers.
Rumwell Farm Shop’s event on February 20 will include ingredients sourced from as nearby as possible including steak from Angus cattle hand-reared on its nearby farm.
Sophie Mitchell, Partner at the farm shop on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, says:
“We are hosting our inaugural Supper at Rumwell in February, with more events to follow this year, and it’s dedicated to pies! It all takes place on Thursday, February 20 from6.30pm and everyone who comes along will be able to choose from a selection of warming and hearty pies.
“Provenance, sustainability and keeping food miles down are all part of our ethos here. We make real food from real ingredients onsite and like to showcase other local and regional producers wherever we can.
“It’s very important that we use as many locally and regionally sourced items in our dishes as possible and that produce grown and reared on our own farm, just four miles from the shop, is included on our menus. Whether that’s our own pork or beef, eggs, apples or potatoes. Obviously, we can’t get some things locally, like bananas for our Banoffee pie, but we can source most of the items we need nearby.
“So, to showcase some of our home reared and grown produce, we’re inviting everyone to come along and enjoy one of our pies made by our wonderful chefs that champion our county and region’s produce. The evening will also be held in the modern and comfortable surroundings of our Rumwell Orchard.”
Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets for the evening are priced at £16.95 and include the main course. Desserts can be purchased separately on the night for £8.50 each.

The menu includes a traditional steak & mushroom pie, served with creamy mash potato and minted peas featuring Rumwell’s Angus beef, hand-reared on its nearby family-run farm.
There’s also a cheese and potato pie, topped with champ mash, served with a wholegrain mustard sauce and peas, which uses potatoes from the farm too. Plus, a chicken and leek pie with a creamy tarragon sauce, served with creamy mash potatoes and peas and a smoked haddock and salmon fish pie, topped with a pastry lid and served with herb new potatoes and a parsley sauce.
Sophie adds:
“Your meal will be plated and served at your table by our team of friendly and professional waiting staff. Desserts, which include a Somerset apple pie with custard, a lemon meringue pie and clotted cream, black cherry pie with vanilla ice cream and banoffee pie with clotted cream, will also be sold separately on the night for £8.50 each.
“Gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options of both courses will also be available. Please let us know about any dietary requirements when booking, as we need to prepare items in advance when booking.”
