Fresh meat and food to go retailer, Crawshaws, will open to the public its largest Fresh Meat Factory Shop in West Bromwich next month, creating 20 new jobs.
This new acquisition marks the 46th store for the fast growing butchery chain and is the fourth Fresh Meat Factory Shop in the growing portfolio, offering shoppers fantastic quality meat almost 50% cheaper than at the supermarket. The Factory Shop, which is due to open its doors early June, follows the successful recent openings of high street stores in Cannock and Leicester.
The £250,000 investment into West Bromwich is part of the Rotherham based retailer’s planned growth strategy. By 2022, Crawshaws Group will invest £200m, opening 200 stores and creating 2,500 jobs, and therefore securing its status as a national brand.
The driving force behind this exciting growth plan is CEO, Noel Collett. He joined the business only a year ago, after spending over 12 years as Lidl’s COO, where he was widely credited as an instrumental figure in the transformation of Lidl, growing the discount chain from 200 to 600 stores.
He explains; “We’re delighted to be opening our largest exclusive Crawshaws’ Fresh Meat Factory Shop in West Bromwich, we pride ourselves on delighting customers with our fantastic quality fresh meat at amazing everyday low prices, we’re 50% cheaper than supermarkets so we’re confident that customers have a genuine reason to keep coming back. Our meat is freshly prepared on the premises daily by our qualified butchers, meaning we have every cut in every size for every occasion, as well as our legendary multi-buy offers.”
This outlet will not only be the largest in the Crawshaws estate, but is a stand-alone unit open to the public sevendays a week and offers shoppers trollies in addition to baskets, emphasising the wealth and variety of products available in store.
Noel continues; “This is also a significant economic move for us in a superbly regenerated area, so recruitment across the region is a key focus. Regardless of experience we’re still looking for people to be a part of a rapidly growing dynamic company, 85% of our butchers are trained within the store, having come to us from a range of previous roles and 70% of our store managers are trained and promoted within the business.”
The substantial 2,600square foot unit in West Bromwich is located at the popular Swan Roundabout just off the A41 and will occupy the old Chinese Buffet unit. The retailer hopes to entice customers into the new store on a regular basis by providing 20 free parking spaces which is easily accessible for local residents.
The new store can be found at Unit 2, 41 Dudley Road, West Bromwich, B70 9RL and is due to open mid-June. It will beopen to the public Monday to Saturday from 8am until 6pm and on Sunday from 8am until 4pm.
