Renowned English wine producer, Langham Wine Estate is proud to announce its partnership with multi-award-winning wine distributor, Liberty Wines, who boast one of the most impressive portfolios of producers in the country. This strategic decision follows Langham’s expansion of its single estate vineyard from twelve hectares to thirty four, making it the largest in the South West and enabling the winery to boost its winemaking capacity from 50,000 to 150,000 bottles annually.
Celebrated for its exceptional wines, Langham Wine Estate’s portfolio of sparkling wines includes the Corallian Classic Cuvée NV, Culver Classic Cuvée NV, Rosé NV and Blanc de Blancs NV.
Langham has recently received several prestigious awards. At the 2024 WineGB Awards, Langham’s Corallian Classic Cuvée won the ‘Best NV/MV Classic Cuvée’ trophy, while its Pinot Noir 2019 received both the ‘Best Blanc de Noirs’ and the ‘Wessex Trophy’. The winery was also named ‘Best Estate Winery of the Year’ for its exceptional range. In addition, both the Corallian Classic Cuvée NV and Pinot Noir 2019, along with the Culver Classic Cuvée NV, Blanc de Blancs NV and Rosé NV were awarded gold medals. The Corallian Classic Cuvée NV and Blanc de Blancs NV further secured gold medals at the 2024 Sommelier Wine Awards.
In 2020 the Langham Wine Estate was awarded the coveted Best Sparkling Wine Producer award at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), beating some of the best French champagne houses and sparkling wines from around the world.
From the beginning of September, Langham’s wines will be exclusively available to Liberty Wines’ portfolio of leading restaurants, hotels, bars, caterers and retail outlets in the UK and Ireland.
Managing Director, Justin Langham, commented:
“2024 has been an exciting year for us and we are delighted to join Liberty Wines. This partnership will help us meet growing demand and expand our distribution across the UK and Ireland as well as offer our trade customers a streamlined and professional service.
“We will shortly break ground on a brand new winery, allowing us to increase production as our new vines bear fruit and avoid having to store wine off site. This will be our largest investment to date costing in the region of £2,000,000. It is a significant step for our passionate team of 12 and we aim to have it operational by August 2025.”
Liberty Wines CEO Tom Platt comments
“Langham is one of the most exciting names in English wine and complements perfectly our existing English sparkling range, both in terms of their geographical location and style. Together, Langham in Dorset, Rathfinny in East Sussex, Nyetimber in West Sussex and Candover Brook in Hampshire highlight the outstanding quality and diversity fast emerging in English sparkling wine and we are delighted to further strengthen our offering to customers.”
With a south-facing aspect, chalk soils and a unique microclimate, Crawthorne Farm, the home of Langham Wine Estate, provides a perfect terroir for ripening the classic Champagne varieties - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Langham Wine Estate prides itself in making wines only using grapes grown on its estate, hand harvesting the fruit and taking a low intervention approach to winemaking.
In addition to their new partnership with Liberty Wines, 2024 marks Langham Wine Estate’s 15th anniversary since planting its vineyard at Crawthorne Farm, near Dorchester. The estate also planted 13,000 new Chardonnay vines on the final 10 acres of their planned expansion.
In July, Langham Wine Estate released the new edition of Corallian Classic Cuvée NV, a Chardonnay-dominant blend named after the coral-rich limestone rock strata found 300 metres beneath the vineyard, with the new release of Blanc de Blancs expected in August.
Looking ahead, Langham Wine Estate remains committed to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of Dorset. With a focus on quality, sustainability and innovation, the estate will continue striving for excellence for many years to come.
