Family-run, independent multi-service food provider, MKG Foods, is celebrating an impressive 75 years in business having scaled growth by double digits within the last 12 months alone.
Headquartered in The West Midlands with a central distribution site in Nottingham, MKG Foods was initially founded in 1950 by Lewis Mayling to capitalise on the new trend in ‘frozen foods’ where he focused on the manufacture and sale of ice cream in and around the Cannock area.
Fast-forward 75 years and MKG Foods is now the Midlands’ number one foodservice provider, supplying chilled, ambient and frozen food ranges to hundreds of establishments across the region - ranging from hotels, bars and restaurants through to caterers, schools and care homes.
With three members of the Mayling family still heavily involved in the business, MKG Foods prides itself on operating to the same values it was originally founded with and strives to maintain the highest delivery standards in the industry, with a 99.9% delivery rate.
To mark its 75th year in business, MKG Foods has undergone a new rebrand to showcase its longevity, while also committing to continued investment in new and advanced technologies to support its growing client base.
Discussing this impressive milestone, Philip Mayling, Director of MKG Foods, said:
“We are incredibly proud of the entire MKG Foods journey and genuinely feel privileged to be able to help lead and grow the business originally founded by my Grandfather 75 years ago.
The last 5 years have been particularly interesting – following the government forced shutdown and resulting loss of 85% of our trade overnight at the start of the pandemic, to rebuilding our customer base and accelerating growth by over double digits during 2024 alone. We are now focused on building on this success through continued investment in our technologies, which ensure our client base can effectively monitor and order food stock when required with fast and efficient turnaround times.
This is not only something that we feel will aid client growth and retention but will also really benefit businesses as they manage the additional financial constraints imposed by the recent autumn budget.”
With offices in Aldridge and Nottingham, MKG Foods is underpinned by an expert team of over 100.
