Sir Fix-A-Lock Has Achieved A King’s Award For Enterprise

Sir Fix-a-lock has been honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.


Sir Fix-a-lock is one of 252 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise and one of only 29 to gain the Sustainable Development category in the UK. In Devon, there were four King’s Awards, of which only one in the Sustainable Development category which Sir Fix-a-lock won. The company has been recognised for its excellence in Sustainable Development. This esteemed recognition highlights the company's exceptional commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.


Founded in 2011, Sir Fix-a-lock has been a frontrunner in green initiatives, specialising in lockouts, master key systems, UPVC door & window repairs, and operating a specialist key cutting shop and trade counter shop on Plymouth Hoe. As Plymouth’s only Master Locksmith Association company, Sir Fix-a-lock has garnered numerous accolades, including the English Veterans Awards Business of the Year award and the Devon Chamber’s Steve Whiteway charity award in 2023. Sir Fix-a-lock also has the coveted Gold Award from the Armed Forces Covenant Employers Recognition Scheme.


Sir Fix-a-lock’s sustainable efforts encompass various initiatives, including investing in electric vehicles such as the new VW ID Buzz and an electric BMW motorbike. The company's building is adorned with solar panels, harnessing solar energy to power operations and even offering free charging for local charities' batteries and EVs during summer months.


Moreover, the company promotes eco-friendly driving habits among its staff, encouraging walking or cycling to work and advocating the use of flagship locks made by Evva, composed of 90% renewable materials.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed last year to reflect His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The Award programme, now in its 58th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
