Winter Tarn Dairy teams up with Pioneer Foodservice to distribute food service butter portions

Family-owned and run Winter Tarn Dairy, based in Cumbria, is set to work with Pioneer Foodservice to distribute its individual 10g food service salted butter portions to their hundreds of customers across the north of England and Southern Scotland.

Like Winter Tarn Dairy - Pioneer Foodservices is a proud family-owned company, passionate about playing its part in supporting the local farming community and quality food producers across the region, which is a key part of their business ethos and has been since their foundation in 1878.

But that’s not all Pioneer Foodservice acts as a champion for fledgling regionally based family-owned businesses forming strong relationships with them. Working closely with them to support them as they grow and continue to deliver quality produce to Pioneer’s customers across the hospitality sector, whether that’s in pubs, restaurants, hotels, cafes, takeaways, canteens, leisure clubs, or the education and healthcare sectors.  

Winter Tarn Dairy was founded in 2009 by husband-and-wife team Jeremy and Tricia Jackson, with a little help from their family. After moving back to Cumbria to run their own dairy farm the family started the business up with the aim of making a better price for the milk they produced.

Since starting the Dairy, the family has produced their award-winning artisan-made butter for sixteen years, building up an enviable client list along the way of some of the most respected chefs, restaurants, and hotels in the country.

To this day they still use the same traditional methods to produce the butter each week, now making butter four days a week, supplying restaurants, delis, and farm shops across the UK. Production at the Dairy is managed by Harry Jackson, Jeremy and Tricia’s second eldest son, who returned to the family business after completing his university degree to focus on developing the business further.

They launched their butter portions in 2021 at The Restaurant Show in London and ever since orders have gone from strength to strength, supplying businesses directly and through a number of carefully selected wholesalers including the likes of Pioneer Foodservice.  

To this day as you would expect Winter Tarn Dairy butter is made with great care in small batches using only the finest, fresh local dairy cream, all of which is sourced from several carefully selected small herd dairy farms in the Northwest of England.
