PUXTON’S butchers are celebrating after being awarded four medals at the annual South West Winter Fair.

The fair is the major Christmas prime stock show for the West Country and the South West Sausage Championship forms part of the event.

Puxton’s butchers entered three speciality sausages and one pork variety into the annual competition, which was held at Junction 24 Auction Centre.

These were pork with marmite, pork with marmalade, and pork with bacon and black
pudding, along with the plain pork variety, which were all awarded silver medals.

Puxton head sausage maker, Phill Windridge, said: “I am delighted that we were awarded four silver medals in the competition as the level of entries was exceptionally high.

“All sausage entries are examined on a point system, with each category starting with 100 points and then points are deducted for various reasons.

“I am thrilled to announce that we received 94 points out of a maximum of 100 points, which gave us four silver medals, for which I feel exceptionally proud.”

Puxton’ssucculent farm assured meats are reared at their own family farm guaranteeing traceability with less than 10 food miles.

At the last count there were over 470 varieties available in Britain and Puxton’s butchers aim to add to that by creating some uniquely flavoured sausages of their own.

Phill added: “Overall, we are passionate about sharing our great tasting, nutritious sausages and meat to satisfy and delight all of our customers, and I believe our superior quality helps us to achieve these award-winning results.”

The award-winning sausages can be sampled and purchased at Puxton’s butchers within Puxton farmshop throughout December.
