Haines Watts has been named “member firm of the year” by Geneva Group International (GGI), the leading global alliance of independent professional firms which has more than 580 accounting, law and consulting firms in 124 countries.
The award was accepted by Birmingham partner Andrew Jones at the alliances’ annual conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Haines Watts joined GGI in 2011 to support its UK-based clients in their international operations – and to help attract overseas businesses to the UK. The GGI Member Firm of the Year Award was created to recognise member firms for their innovation, achievements and strategic development.
Mr Jones, who is Haines Watts’ Global Vice Chair for Audit and Accounting, said:
“What makes this award so special is that it is a nomination by our fellow peers across the globe. For the past seven years, Haines Watts has been working with member firms worldwide delivering services to their clients whilst they have delivered outstanding advice to our clients - particularly those with international operations and ambitions. “It is rare for SMEs and owner managed businesses to have such a breadth of expertise available through their own local accountants. This is normally the domain of much bigger firms,”
he said.
Haines Watts also holds two other significant roles within GGI. Paul Simmons is on its executive committee while Steve McCrindle is Global Chairperson for Indirect Taxes.
