Bristol-based PR consultancy Distinctive Communications is celebrating adding a hat-trick of new clients to its books.

Distinctive has joined The Underfall Yard Trust’s project team to support its continued recovery from a fire which damaged the historic attraction and working boat yard last year.

The team worked with the charity on a voluntary basis after the fire broke out last May. The new arrangement sees Distinctive provide media, content and strategy support as restoration work gets underway.

Distinctive has also been commissioned by Community of Purpose, a Community Interest Company dedicated to transforming the lives and futures of young people in Bristol.

Distinctive will deliver a package of PR support including devising a strategic PR plan, media relations, and content creation.

The campaigns team at Distinctive has also secured work for Bath and North East Somerset Council to provide design and copywriting support for a bespoke strategy document for local carers and residents with caring responsibility.

Distinctive founder and director Ben Lowndes said:

“As we complete our second year in business, these wins come at an important and exciting phase for us.

“In supporting these clients, we build on our specialism of supporting place-makers and purposeful businesses. It’s brilliant to see our offers in these areas resonating and attracting interest as we build our presence.

“In an uncertain and highly competitive landscape, there has never been a more important time to communicate clearly and purposefully.

“We look forward to working with our new and existing clients to help them meet their ambitions.”

A strong start to 2024

The new client wins follow a successful six months for Distinctive. This year, the team:

  • Expanded into Exeter, with the appointment of experienced PR professional Arianne Smart.
  • Started work with specialist change management consultancy Nine Feet Tall in January.
  • Delivered a public consultation campaign for Mendip Hills National Landscape on a proposed temporary road closure in Cheddar Gorge. The consultation generated more than 1,700 responses and was highlighted nationally as an example of good practice.

Supporting social value

Backed by up to five days volunteer leave each year for every employee, Distinctive has also supported good causes in Bristol, Somerset and Exeter this year.

Colleagues provided a strategy workshop and developed a communications plan to support Bristol’s Just Transition campaign, which centres on inclusivity and fairness for a sustainable future

In Exeter, the team has offered time and expertise to support the launch of Exeter Chamber’s ‘NextGen’ initiative, designed to engage, upskill and inspire young professionals in the city.

The Distinctive team includes director, Ben Lowndes; content account manager, Jasmine Gordon; PR account manager, Arianne Smart; and graphic designer, Stacey Broadbear.
