Professional Liverpool has appointed one of its longest-standing board members as its new CEO.
Phil Adams will take over from Andrew Ruffler on February 5 and brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in leadership roles within the Liverpool City Region business community. He will remain in his role as a Client Services Director at leading independent firm of chartered accountants Langtons.
Phil's strategic vision and commitment to fostering collaboration aligns with the values of the membership organisation, which represents the professional and business services sector, as he looks to propel the organisation into its next chapter of growth and success.
He has a bold vision and a commitment to continue the successful ‘Change for the Better' campaign implemented by Andrew and the Professional Liverpool team at the end of 2023, which will remain as a cornerstone of Professional Liverpool's strategy.
Phil said: "I am honoured to be appointed as the next CEO of Professional Liverpool. I look forward to building upon the strong foundations laid by Andrew and working with the talented team to continue advancing the organisation's objectives.
"I'm excited to work hand in hand with Liverpool's dynamic and diverse business professionals and I hope I can inspire and bring people along with me. The city continues on an upward trajectory but there remain obstacles to overcome. I hope to encourage collaboration rather than competition and innovation rather than imitation. And underpinning it all is the integrity and even-handedness that one would expect from the voice of the professional community."
The Professional Liverpool team has also been strengthened with Clare Brookfield being promoted to Head of Engagement, ably supported by Keri Stanistreet as Marketing and Events Executive.
Phil's new role will be pivotal in developing further collaboration and innovation within the Liverpool City Region, contributing to the organisation's mission of supporting and promoting the local business community. He plans to unify segmented groups within the city region and to ensure that all members are presented with new opportunities and have access to valuable resources.
He added: "As a chartered accountant working with businesses all over the city, I'm well-placed to work with local leaders and the key stakeholders to enunciate the opinions of our members and the challenges that they experience on a day-to-day basis.
"I want our members to engage, interact and grow with Professional Liverpool for their benefit, for Professional Liverpool's benefit and for the wider city region's lasting economic and social benefit. Ultimately, I want to restore Liverpool's reputation as a great place to do business and to grow businesses."
Andrew Ruffler expressed his gratitude for the support and collaboration during his tenure. He said: "It has been a privilege to serve as the CEO of Professional Liverpool. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together, and the organisation is in a strong, sound position. I am confident that with the existing solid foundation, the organisation will continue to flourish under Phil's leadership. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the incredible team, the Executive Board led by Philip Rooney, and our members for their unwavering support over the last four years."
