Manchester-based communications agency Scoop is celebrating its five-year anniversary, following a period of rapid, sustained growth.
Scoop was founded by managing director Pippa Nixon just before COVID-19 turned the business landscape upside down, and has since gone from strength to strength - achieving year-on-year increases in both revenue and client portfolio.
Since 2020, the Scoop team has serviced a total of 76 clients across a range of industries, from homegrown heroes like Mission Mars, Chester Zoo and Northern Restaurant & Bar to global giants such as Popeyes® UK, and RG Live (Sony).
Initially established as a PR consultancy for F&B businesses, the team now partners with clients across additional categories including residential real estate, leisure, travel, live events, and more.
Founder Pippa has credited the team’s commitment to expanding Scoop’s offering across disciplines and industries with its continued growth.
“We’re very lucky to have the team we do,”
explains Pippa.
“They’re all incredibly ambitious and entrepreneurial, which is not only reflected in the types of clients we work with but has also been central to the evolution of the business.
“We always push each other to grow, and that’s led us to now having five distinct business functions: comms & PR, brand marketing, live events, content creation, and strategic consultation. The past year in particular has been transformational for us, and when you hit a milestone like five years in operation, it’s nice to be able to look back and take stock a bit.
“I didn’t really have a plan when I started Scoop, I just knew I wanted to work alongside brilliant people on equally brilliant creative work, and I still have to regularly pinch myself when I look at how far we’ve come since then. We’re already at 70% of 2025’s revenue target with loads more growing to do – it feels very much as though we’re in a new era and I can’t wait to see where we go next.”
Amidst the agency’s growth Pippa has made several hires and promotions, including promoting Kara Doyle to campaign lead – spearheading Scoop’s comms & PR work with the support of account manager Tom Dellow – and hiring Natasha Bloom as marketing manager, who will continue to grow Scoop’s content, brand strategy and social media marketing capabilities.
Izzy Watson and Bethan Clarke have also been promoted to senior communications executives, and former intern Natasha Black has been brought on full-time to support Scoop’s marketing efforts.
The business’ headcount has increased every year since launching, now sitting at 8 full-time members of staff, plus two part-time. Recently won clients include Mulligans of Deansgate, 200 Degrees (The Nero Group), Select Property Group, Museum of Illusions – which Scoop launched into the UK – and Archie’s.
“In terms of what’s next, we’re excited to really focus on our strategic consultation offering this year and beyond,”
adds Pippa.
“It’s also wonderful that the business has now grown to such a point that we’re able to offer pro bono support to charities. At the moment the team is working on a really meaningful campaign to support local baby bank Little Green Sock.”
