Work is underway on 75 much-needed new homes in Winkleigh after regional housebuilder Allison Homes South West has officially ‘broken ground’ at the site.

This marks the start of construction for the second phase of High Moor View, the first phase of the development was completed earlier this year.

In July, an archaeological dig took place on the land, which identified a circa. 1.800-year-old domestic Romano-British enclosed farmstead which would have been inhabited by an extended family and livestock. An open day was held to share the findings and replica artefacts with the community.

Shaune Hicks, Operations Director at Allison Homes South West commented:

“We’re excited to have officially started work on Phase two of our High Moor View development. Following the success of Phase One, where the homes proved to be extremely popular, we expect Phase Two to generate a similar level of interest.

“In this next phase, we are particularly excited to introduce advanced energy efficiency features into the designs, such as air source heat pumps, ensuring lower energy consumption, reduced utility costs, and a smaller environmental footprint, without compromising on comfort or style. The first properties will be released for sale later this year, offering future homeowners the opportunity to invest in a home that not only meets their lifestyle needs but also contributes to a more sustainable future."

This marks an important part in Allison Homes South West’s ambitious growth plans across the region, which includes ongoing progress across its existing developments. In addition, the housebuilder is seeking out new land across the region with plans to build more communities in line with the Government's target for much needed housing.

Residents at High Moor View benefit from a beautiful rural location brimming with history, good links to local amenities, including several friendly pubs, and local businesses and organisations such as a health centre, cafes and a local school.

Situated close to the scenic gardens at Lytes Cary Manor and less than ten miles from Dartmoor National Park, the development offers the very best of modern country living.
