A Cotswold retirement village has won a prestigious design award.


Aura Care Living’s Stratton Court picked up The Retirement Living Award for 
Best Architecture or Design, an award that takes into account interior or exterior building design, including plans and visuals, VR production, construction, decor, furnishings and assistive design, for any illnesses, for example, dementia.


The Retirement Living Awards aim to seek out the best retirement housing projects and integrated retirement communities and services in the UK, looking for innovation, quality and assurance.


The vibrant retirement community designed for discerning over-65s. Offers 31 luxurious one- and two-bedroom apartments. This development boasts amenities such as the Kensington Restaurant, a well-stocked library, a professional hair salon and a fully-equipped gym, all situated within a glazed atrium. Surrounded by scenic pathways and well-tended gardens.


Judges admired Stratton Court’s design that reflects a balance between traditional Cotswold charm and contemporary living. The buildings feature classic stone facades that resonate with the local vernacular, while incorporating modern elements such as large windows. It was opened in 2018.


Linda Lloyd is the CEO of Aura care Living and is incredibly proud of the design, her work with the architects on, what she described as,

“our vibrant community offers diverse lifestyle options and an extensive range of sport and leisure facilities, guaranteeing something for everyone.


She went on to say:

“We have plans to improve the village further, incorporating sustainable and eco-friendly features is essential for modern developments. The introduction of multipurpose rooms that can be used for various activities, such as art classes, book clubs and hobby groups, can foster a sense of community. Outdoor spaces can be upgraded with communal gardens, walking trails, and seating areas to encourage residents to spend time outdoors and interact with one another, watch this space.”


The retirement village sits next to the companies care home, which has also been a recent winner, picking up Best Luxury Care Home 2024 in the South West by Global Health and Pharma Magazine as well as a recommendation this year for the home, as part of an assessment by Inclusion Gloucestershire,
