A long-established Chasetown construction company, with developments throughout the Midlands, has announced that it is to build its first housing scheme in its home town.

Cameron Homes will regenerate a prominent location just a few doors away from its head office in the High Street.

The firm has received planning permission to provide a range of properties on the site which was used by the Collis furniture store and a former Victorian chapel.

“We are pleased to have been given the go ahead to build a new development so near to our head office,” said Andy Gough, sales and marketing director.

“This is an exciting development as it will bring new life to a prominent location in the High Street and help to regenerate the area.

“Cameron is a long-established family owned company which has been based in Chasetown for over two decades.

“Our sites are located throughout the Midlands at locations including Stratford on Avon, Birmingham, Burton on Trent and Derbyshire so it is great to be ‘coming home’,” he added.

The furniture store, which used the chapel for storage, has temporarily re-located to Burntwood ater 120 years on the site.

Liz Collis, the fourth generation to run the business, said: “I am pleased that Cameron Homes is stepping in to develop the land in a sympathetic way.”

Work on the seven homes, which will include houses and bungalows, will start in March of this year, with the first properties going on the market in the summer.
