WITH more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, Paul Maddern has joined the national property, construction and infrastructure consultancy, Pick Everard, as its new head of quantity surveying (QS) in the West Midlands.
Paul will be heading up cost management within Pick Everard’s Birmingham office, having previously held several senior positions at firms across the Midlands, growing the firm’s presence in the West Midlands.
“I’ve known of Pick Everard for some time and when the opportunity arose to establish a new Birmingham office I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down,”
said Paul.
“My experience has mainly been in large housing developments around the region – with the exception of a £70 million private rental sector (PRS) homes development in the city centre adjacent to the Paradise development.”
Paul is now keen to affirm Pick Everard’s place in Birmingham and the West Midlands’ marketplace, growing the team to become among the largest of the firm’s 11 offices.
“We’re incredibly optimistic that we’ll achieve these goals – there are some really significant projects in the pipeline and we’re on track to reach our target for the year which, for a new office, is very impressive and I’m proud of the work we’ve done to secure this.
“Birmingham has significant growth aspirations which we’re keen to support. It’s tipped to be the ‘golden decade of growth’ for Birmingham and I’m looking forward to what comes next for the city – as well as Pick Everard’s next steps in growing alongside,”
continued Paul.
Pick Everard has completed a number of high profile projects in the region. These include: the re-fit of Selfridge’s fourth floor in the Bullring and West Mercia Police’s construction programme including its new control and command centre at Hindlip. The firm is also progressing a planning application for a significant extension to the strategic employment site, i54, near Wolverhampton.
Alastair Hamilton, partner at Pick Everard said:
“We’re delighted to have Paul on board, supporting our strong West Midlands portfolio – which is continuing to increase year-on-year. “We are a multi-disciplinary practice and Paul’s considerable experience in Cost Management will support our work across a variety of sectors, with projects ranging in size and value. Birmingham is a city we have considerable experience working within and it’s always been a goal of ours to have an office here to support this work – from school refurbishments to multi-million pound public sector framework contracts and private sector developments, all of which require specialist knowledge and understanding of the relevant sectors.
“We’re delighted to have opened our 11th office in the Second City and look forward our future here. I wish Paul the best of luck in his new role and look forward to working closely with him and the rest of the West Midlands team.”
