A bakery business launched from a northwest kitchen table has secured listings with Tesco, joining its prestigious Accelerator programme.
JNCK Bakery was founded just last year by brothers Alex and Sean Brassill, who grew up in Warrington. They are targeting the sweet snacking and fresh bakery markets with the launch of their range of delicious cookies made in Manchester, which have 90% less sugar, 50% less saturated fat, 3x protein and 5x fibre compared to existing products*. Since launching they have won a raft of awards and outsold leading brands on online delivery company GoPuff, as well as generating listings in the foodservice and independent retail sectors across the UK. Their groundbreaking cookies will now be stocked in over 500 Tesco stores of all sizes across the UK, taking the products and brand to a huge new audience.
Tesco’s Accelerator scheme was launched to boost growth for innovative new brands that focus on health and sustainability. The programme provides support with a comprehensive year-long programme of listings, mentoring, learning and development focusing on growth. JNCK is one of just 16 brands selected in this cohort, from thousands of applications.
Alex Brassill says:
“We’ve been blown away by the success of our cookies since launch and this is now a huge leap forward in the growth of our business. It’s testament to the quality of our products and we are absolutely thrilled.
“When I spotted a gap in the market, we first started creating these cookies on my mum’s kitchen table. We want to redefine junk food and support people living healthier lives by removing sugar. Over two years of testing with over 2000 trials went into getting our cookies right, so seeing them on sale in Tesco will be amazing.”
The products will be on shelf and online from October.
Ashwin Prasad, Chief Commercial Officer at Tesco said:
“Our customers love to try innovative new products, whether that’s a speciality product they can’t get anywhere else, or a brand that has sustainability at its heart, so it’s a real pleasure to support the development and growth of exciting brands at Tesco.”
